Course Summary :
|
On many farms the spray operator will be the person who sees the most of each field during the course of a season. Good operators are not only able to see issues arising before they become a problem, but also in many cases provide opportunities for savings to be made!
This is a half day course starting at 9:30am and finishing by 1:00pm to give a basic introduction to weeds, pests and diseases in the field, why they should be controlled, and how to recognise them from the operators seat. The course will be a combination of practical identification as well as presentations.
Following the identifications we will then go on to look at how to get the best out of the farm sprayer when dealing with weeds, pests and diseases while minimising the effect on non target organisms and the environment. This section will include Nozzle and volume selection as well as LERAPS, Buffer zones and environmental information sheets. The conclusion to the day will be a short exercise linking the whole course contents together
