  • Enable employees and employers to understand the hazards associated with use of ladders/stepladders
  • Enable employees and employers to use ladders/stepladders in a safe and effective manner.
  • Enable employees and employers to recognise defects in ladders/stepladders or circumstances where their use is inappropriate.
  • Ensure that ladders/stepladders are carried, transported and stored safely and without risk.
  • To enable managers to have sufficient understanding and knowledge to:
    • Purchase ladders that are suitable for the work.
    • Supervise persons using, carrying or transporting ladders.
    • Implement a system of preventive maintenance for ladders.
    • Full compliance with legal duties.
