Meeting new legal requirements: In line with a directive from the European Union, new legislation introduced from 1 January 2006 requires anyone shooting and supplying game meat to a game dealer to be a 'trained person'.

The new law focuses on meat hygiene and is being implemented by the Food Standard Agency (FSA).
