Course Summary :

1.  Business efficiency

Reducing waste from agri/food sector

Wastage pre/post harvest - Grain mycotoxins, control, reduction, risk management to avoid rejections.  Reducing screenings, agronomic management.

Farm waste management – a farm approach, whole farm appraisal.  (Visit to a recycling composting/plant?)

Improved energy efficiency – TAG New Farm Systems.  Fuel and macninery optimisation.  (TAG help, John Bailey)

2. New Markets

Energy crops for rable farms – existing markets reviewed, new markets explored.  Biomass, biodiesel, bioethanol etc. (with industry speakers/help)

3. Resource protection

(lots of stuff coming out off Catchment/Environment Sensitive Farming projects we could tap into  - visit to see bio-bed in action for example?)

4. Conservation/Natural environment.

TAG/LINK project on placing and managing habitat areas/strips.  Workshop on ELS buffer zones/cross compliance strips to prevent weed build up.

Climate change – crop effects, New Farm Systems (lower fert, lower cultivation, energy etc) review
